in favor of euthanasia

I have two people in my life working in nursing homes and the stories they tell me have only strengthened my conviction that euthanasia has to be become legal everywhere. People need to have the option if they see it as the only logical step in or end to their life. It's not that they are not worth the care. People have the right to choose what to do with their life, period. If ending it is their choice, then so be it. Why should anyone take that choice away from them?

There are so many illnesses that are just so sad to go through for everyone involved, but especially for the patient. I wonder how many of the people I hear about would continue to live if they had the option to just not bother with life anymore. I myself don't want to live until I can't tend to my own needs to the point that someone else has to change my diapers because I can neither change them myself nor go to the toilet (or it's just impractical to help me do so).

Changing diapers is the least of it. What's the point of living if all I do is stay alive? What's the point if the rest of my time is spent within the same building that I cannot leave because my body wouldn't handle it? What's the point if my health only deteriorates? Under the existing social system in Europe, you're worked to the bone well into your 60s or more. So by the time you can "enjoy" life, all the life is sucked out of you. You're used up like a toothpaste tube and instead of being disposed off, you're told that you're now free... Free to do what exactly?

Suffer for a decade or two without forcing you to be a "productive member of society"? Why is that the only option? Why can't I not suffer my whole life through the job market and wage slavery with the promise of having some peace at the end? Our bodies are neither built for long lives nor for the work regimens we allow them to be put through.

And don't even get me started on the treatment of disabled people in this "healthcare" system which is supposedly better than the American "healthcare" industry which is not hard to beat anyway. But even then, the European "healthcare" system is only marginally better because you're still subhuman to the overworked and underpaid workers. You're just another client at best. Oh, you have a problem? Well, you don't know shit so you better listen to me, the big balls doctor, explain to you how you feel your pain.

You should not have to work to live and neither should you have to die to be free of pain. Being in this "healthcare" system is no fun and I do not want to spend my final days in it. I don't know, y'all, I just don't want to work my ass off just to rot in earthen hell. But if I have to do that anyway, I might as well be able to end it myself when I'm done being a cog in the machine.
